Hi Immi! Abour five years ago my cats (dirty little b*ggers) were covered in them. Once we'd sorted them out the house was still full. The only thing that worked was a Flea Trap Killer. We put it in each room for a day. You keep the room dark, they're attracted to the light and once they land on it they get stuck. Hope this helps xx

NUVON TOP, you can get it from your vets, highly effective, spray round skirting boards, carpets, under cushions etc, kills everything !
try diluting tea tree oil with water and sparying it on to affecting areas

we used a 'fogger' . place on a chair , set it off and leave the room for an hour. (allways read the instructions)

another way was to put a night light on and place a saucer of water underneath. the fleas 'see' the heat from the light and think it's a cat or dog. fleas can't swim very well. bl**dy good at the high/long jump though!

I once took over a house where the pevious occupants had encouraged strays. I used Baygon insecticide (spray - the original red and green can) and methodically sprayed around the floor/wall line and then less rigorously the whole of the floor and all the furniture. Generally, I did this room by room and kept all windows and doors closed for 24 hours until eventually I was down to rooms that could not be "quarantined" where I did my best to limit use. The fleas disappeared and never returned. The trouble is that Baygon may not be easily available where you are. If you know anyone who travels to somewhere it is sold, try to persuade them to bring you a couple of cans - it is the most powerful spray insecticide I know of and never fails to make an impact.
I'm with allotment10, Nuvan Top was brilliant. Unfortunately I don't think its still in production. I think it was too wicked!! Have a word at the vets - any of the stuff you buy at tescos, asdas etc won't work.
We used a spry called 'Zodiac' a Maxi Household Flea Spray which claims to have an active 12 months continuous protection. It is also petsafe. It is expensive but it did the trick.
why dont you call the council in they will spray for you and i dont think it costs anything we had them in and the man told me you only need to spray around the edges of the furniture as they dont live in the middle of the carpet only in the edges and under the edges of the furniture when we moved here the place was heaving with them but the man from the council soon got rid of them
Sorry but your cat still has fleas! The flea larvae were living in your carpets (may have been there from when you bought it) and as they hatch out, they will leap onto the cat for a feed. This goes on for months. Treat the animal properly in conjunction with your vets advice and you will gradually get clear.

I have to agree with Danny here. Once your poor puss has fleas it is the devils own job to get rid of them. It is a vicious circle. Flea, egg, larva, flea. If they are in your carpets then your cat will have them again. You need a really good strong Vacuum cleaner and then get to the vets for something to spray round the skirtingboards, carpets, chushions, suite, beds, pet beds, in fact anything that has soft upholstery. Best of luck they are a pain to get rid of.

Although you think that your cat does not have the problem with flees anymore, I would suggest that it is still the cause of your problem. I have owned both cats and dogs over the years and have tried many products, none of which were any good. The only product that I would recommend is Frontline Combo which I get from the vet, it is very good as its breaks the flee's life cycle.

You also need to treat your house, and again I have used almost everything on the market, some years ago I had a problem with flees in my house , I had no pets at the time and had a terrible job trying to get rid of them, I was being eaten alive and spent a fortune, I even had pest control in 3 times. I was told to try Fly & Wasp spray by someone, and this proved to be the answer, it worked very well and fairly quickly. Spray your carpets concentrating along the edges, under the cushions on your furniture and under the mattress of all the beds. Give it a go, it worked for me.
