I live in a very hard water area, and when my glass shower screen needs cleaning I use Lime lite. It's one of the best products I've used for this purpose.

You can buy it in most supermarkets in a 500ml spray bottle.

The only thing that puzzles me in your question is, if the hard water stains are on the outside of your window how did this happen, as rain always falls as soft water?

thankyou very much.

The water is coming from an overflow pipe from the tank in the loft, and when the wind blows in ends up on my window, and then it stays there

use newspaper and vinegar also try flash bleach that is in a spray bottle from netto

I already tried newspaper and vinegar with some added elbow grease, but it only slightly faded, it's quite an extreme case.

Thanks for the advice though

the Lime Lite was really good for the light case of stains at the top, but for the extreme case at the bottom it's not budgeing. Any more ideas?
Glad the Lime Lite worked - to a point anyhow.

Cannot help further, but it sounds as though a gel like solution that sticks to the window whilst it does its work is the sort of thing you need.

I'll leave any further answers to those more knowledgeable than me.

Good luck anyhow.

I have found a solution, scrubbing at the window with barkeepers friend on a scourer worked excellently.

Using of vinegar is the best solution for window cleaning and after applying the cleaners you can clean the window by using the paper. Rubbing the paper on the window screen smoothly can remove the dirt.
