Ours is similar, and to replace the broken lid I had to remove the whole toilet, fix it and then replace. Not simple, but not impossible (and very dirty!). You'll have to get plumber. Or if you really want to know...
Turn off the mains water. Disconnect the mains supply to the cistern (needs a spanner) and (possibly) the overflow (probably push fit - if glued, rethink plans!). Don't loose any connectors or gaskets. Flush, then unscrew the cistern from the wall and remove. Unscrew the bowl from the floor and remove (this is the dirty bit - get ready with cleaning equipment!). Be careful not to unduly disturb the sewage outlet pipe, you don't want to break any joints further away, but the toilet bowl should just pull away from the pipe, being a push fit into a big rubber gasket. Replace your toilet seat and then reverse the disassembly process. Horrible though it is, make sure you clean up the toilet bowl outlet, any rubber seals and the sewage outlet pipe end, as you need to have a good seal (for obvious reasons). Wash the rubber gaskets well in warm soapy water. A smear of washup liquid on the joints will help them go back together easily. Check for leaks. Total, about 4 hours work.
