Is there any way to turn a dark brown leather chair black, or at least darker brown?

I have inherited a gorgeous Eames chair, but I would love the leather to be darker. The chair is very valuable so I don't want to do anything to damage it.

Any ideas?

Leather can be coated with a similar or darker colour but it would only be a coat and not very durable at that. You would likely devalue the chair considerably by such a process, plus it would need to be dismantled to get at the surfaces properly. You are likely to be dissatisfied in the long run but for reliable advice contact leather workshops - perhaps including people who restore car interiors. A better approach would be a complete replacement in new leather - but that would not be cheap.
Give the Walsall working leather museum a call, they are very helpfull......01922 721153
If you don't want to devalue the chair I would advise against doing anything to the leather other than getting it professionally cleaned.

You're all right. I think I will just have to be happy with a dark brown chair! It is so beautiful, I wouldn't want to do anything to damage it! Thanks for your advice.
