not sure what you are trying to remove the grease from but i have removed grease from clothing by putting sheet of brown paper over it and ironing it. Also try the dry cleaners - perhaps they could manage.
Vinegar is supposed to be the wonder juice: it will do a lot of things.
I like the proprietary cleaner "vanish" which has been around a long time.
Try and get the worst out with hot water and kitchen roll first.
White spirit will dissolve grease but care is needed if the item to be cleaned is valuable.
I have lots of grease marks on the front of my son's clothesfrom wiping greasy fingers on his shirt instead of using a napkin (my number 1 pet hate!)

I scrub and soak the garment in fairy liquid and then wash on a hottish wash (about 50).

If it is a hard surface you are trying to remove grease from, say concrete or some such material, then coca cola is the number one grease remover and engine oil remover from floors.

hope this helps.
Hi andrea

Look at post (earlier) from Sarah ( on removing tar).......

Euculyptus Oil is marvellous for removing tar, grease and oil (but as fellow abers have said caution to the material your dealing with!)......

I have used this method for some time - it is very good (clears your head too!), carpets, jackets, blouses (not silk) etc.

As bricro says vinegar is also good, as is Vanish (I have their soap stick [similiar to deodorant stick] it even takes out old stains - seems to work better than their liquid).

If you do read the other post I mentioned (the carpet I treated for a friend), the stain had been there for 6 months!
Just remembered!
Try carbon tetrachloride ie., if you are still allowed to buy it,your chemist will know.

Good luck.
rub a bit of butter or marg over the stain and pour washing up liquid onto it and then mix the two together by gently rubbing the fabric together.works on oil too.good luck
