Anything at all that might attract maggots, flies etc - raw meat scraps is the biggest culprit - wrap securely in tin foil.
Wrap your rubbish in small amounts in tightly tied used supermarket carrier bags. If possible, use two carrier bags.
If you are throwing used cooking fat out, pour it into an empty jar (coffee jars are good) and screw the lid on tightly. As long as your kitchen is cool you can keep adding to it and throw it away once a fortnight.
That's just about all you can do.
