Once you have cleared the weeds thoroughly, you may like to try ground-cover plants for low / easy maintenance, plant in odd numbers ie 3s, 5s, etc and a little closer than recomended to fill in quicker.
Once they get established they will leave little room for weeds. Check the plants are suitable for your garden ie sun, shade and soil type. Good Luck. T bird+

I used lawn sand from b&q just sprinkle it over the grass before it rains. The 25kg bags are not too dear to buy.
