DirtDevil Vacuum Cleaner - mystery metal clip

Abit of a longshot but...yesterday I had to take the vacuum cleaner apart as there was a blockage in the pipe and it wasn't working properly. When I had the plastic cover off the bottom that covers the rubber band and roller, a small metal clip fell out. From where it came out of I assume this clip was part of the machine, and not something that had been picked up by it. The trouble is I can't see where it goes. Does anyone happen to know?!

could have come off cover you removed, looks like the sort of thing that would be used to hold cover in place
