It generally is the size (front plate) as a double socket and it has the two holes (for the two prongs of the appliance. There are only two holes because any device has to be double insulated and doesn't therefore require a protective earth - the third prong. Such sockets are suitable for driving shavers and toothbrushes. The UK has a very conservative approach to safety when water is around. You won't find this constraint in many countries.
