....is there any way i can kill them off naturally without it looking like i did it? I don't want to fall out with the neighbours so would rather it be 'god's will'

Wait for a thunder strom and wait for them to be 'hit by lightning'..... any other way (salt/weedol etc) would look a bit too suspicious.... or perhaps just use the death star ;-)
The Dark side manifests itself!!! Try getting hold of some copper nails and hammer them into the base of the tree(s) making sure you get them well into the bark so they can't be seen.
you can also bark them...rub away the bark in a circle aroun the base of the tree, at badger height.(scapegoat suggestion). Another, much quicker and more spectacular route is to have a barbecue. Leylandii are rather flammable, and an "accidentaly" misplaced candle or barbecue coal should give you the tree equivalent of the towering inferno in seconds. Have fun.

Top answers everyone and many thanks. Barbeque sounds a good idea (for the stomach too!). Meanwhile while i wait for good weather, and the copper nails i ordered to arrive, i will pray nightly to god for lightning. I'm afraid i can't use the death star as the lad Luke got hold of it and broke it (He just wanted to see how it works - typical teenagers, why can't he go chasing girls like normal lads. Now that Han Solo has the right idea........)
Another (rather sneaky) suggesttion.... ee if you can find a leylanii exhibiting the symptoms on the following link and borrow some of the foliage! http://www.aie.org.uk/trunkline/pests/aie_pd_cory.
