Wire wool perhaps, or a green pastic scourer ?
sorry that should read green plastic scourer
Brillo pads
I always turn the iron up to full, then kind of scrape off the burnt bits on an old towel draped over the edge of the ironing board, if that makes sense. Works every time, but ruins the towel!
you can get a waxy type stick, thng which you apply to the iron when hot then rub off, takes all the brown bits off, superb, robert dyers or most hardware shops do
ps i would'nt , use anything abrasive as it scratches the surface and makes the iron stick more
