Is it possible to move the mains pipe where it comes up into the house through the kitchen floor?

Yes, it is possible. You'll need to find out where to shut off the mains water supply at the street and alter the pipework accordingly. I don't know your level of plumbing skills but post a reply with your knowledge and I'll try to be more specific. I'm currently doing the same job in a flat my son has just bought. Cheers, Andy
Be careful if you do attempt it, it is very possible that if you do not make the joints correctly the mains pressure could blow the pipework off. Somebody may come on and say that I am talking crap, but I can assure you that the mains press. is capable of this, especially if 22mm and above.

I too have done this in the past, but I think I'm right in saying that the new connection at the street end should only be done by a waterboard plumber.
In fact, last time I was told that they are the only ones who are authorised to turn the water supply on or off. Fortunately the bloke who turned out to our place was ok about it but mentioned it for future reference.
