I am supposed to be moving house today. We have totally packed up our house into a van and we are waiting for contracts to be exchanged. We just had a call off our solicitor to say that our buyers mortgage hasn't shown up yet and our money hasn't been released. ... I am beginning to panic now. Is this normal?

My daughter had this problem. She was supposed to move at 10 am it was 5 in the afternoon before she got going.
I hope you mean that your contract due is due to be completed today - not exchanged. Whilst it is possible to exchange and complete in the same day, its very unusual.
a sale can be cancelled or fall through at any time before the contract have been signed/exchanged. Once they have been xchanged you are legally bound. I hope for your sake you have exchanged. Bit silly to move out before contracts and monies are exchanged.
