We are thinking of having a new upvc front door fitted. Can anyone tell me what is the going rate, and what standard to look for?
We have seen them advertised from 395 to over 1,000, but why can you never get a fixed price for a certain door in the brochures? You always have to have the smooth taking guy round with his calculator.

HI, Look around local companies and stay away from the big ones.

A normal door with mid rail and glass/glass or glass/panel should be about 460 including Vat Fitting and ten year guarantee.. We are also selling doors with decorative panels from 490 to 600 depending on the panel design, We have about 20 panels at the cheaper range so you should have a good choice.Make sure the door, including panel, is fully re-inforced, and it has at least a seven point locking system.
Keep away from the big boys. They will charge 900 upwards.
