I thought this was too much of a jump (esp as we'd moved in during the winter and they hadn't even given it a chance to equal out over the summer). So I called and said no it it and they said ok, they would review in 3 months. They did and now are saying they want to raise it to 36 as we have worked out to be in debit. I said it was ok, as long as they reviewed it again in 3 months and didn't keep it at that uneccessarily as I want my money in MY account, not THEIRS!
If you don't think the raise is fair, call them and see what they say.

I am giving up direct debit after my bill comes in. I pay 42 a month electric and 59.50 month gas. At the moment they owe me 120 back on the electric, I told them this was going to happen but they insist on taking the 42.Funny enough my gas rose after getting a combi boiler last year, thought it was supposed to save you money. Bye Bye British Gas April when my tie in finishes.
Yep, I'm sick of getting bills which say i'm in credit. Swalec give you a refund readily enough but tried to get a gas refund and they say it will be done in January. They have 60! And I've got that boiler care thing after having to have mine fixed - that might have worked out cheaper than paying all in one go. I went for it cos a corgi gas fitter left us with a gas leak last time he looked at it and for some reason I trusted BG more!
I might switch too but I want to do it when I want, not when someone tries to sell me a new deal.
Grrr. And I just had a new water meter (which replaced an old one) which has put my bills up!

With my latest bills from British Gas seriously depleting any spare money for another quarter, I thought that it was time for me to look at finding an alternative energy supplier.
After searching Google using for Cheap Gas and Cheap Electric I came across a site who can save us cash with those dreadful household utility bills.
It can pay to shop around for energy suppliers, I have been informed that savings of up to 500 a year can be made by swapping to a cheaper energy supplier.
Things that can assist lower energy bills include:
Paying by Direct Debit
Paperless Billing
And of course make sure that your property is properly insulated!

Yeh right, the gas companies are really having us on with the wholesale prices. I checked out that http://www.searchandsave.com/.
They were quite helpful and went through the option available, however at the end of the day they are just selling the USwitch service, so they are no more than an agent for them.
I too pay for my energy bills via Direct Debit and it is amazing how British Gas accrue the cash and are not fortcoming with reimbursement.
