Our old (Technics) Hi Fi system wants replacing as it is 26 years old and I don't know about the latest gismos on the new systems. What should I look for? I want something small with a good quality sound and at least 2 speakers, and be able to use an ipod with it. Are there any good deals out there? Can I connect it to a tv if I want?

I suppose it depends on your budget - if funds allow then consider BOSE - quality sound, discrete and you get the whole entertainment unit in one, ie dvd player and hifi.
My last system was Panasonic - and changed it to a Technics DVD Home cinema system which plugs into the TV - sound on a good scary movie is awesome.
