ive got a sofa that stinks. the cushions are stuffed with feathers. i can machine wash the covers and its ok for a week or two,but the cushions the that you sit on really hum.ive had it for about 8 years and its still in nice condtion.any ideas on how to get it to smell nice again?Ive tried febreeze and all that stuff.

If its fabric(not leather etc)you could try applying bicarbonate of soda.I would use a small sieve and sprinkle over the affected area.Leave for about an hour then vac off using attachment from your hoover.Do this twice a week and soon the smell should be gone as bicarb is a natural deodoriser.

shake n vac to put the freshness back, your sofa smells good, your rooms does too. Or fabreeze it

the cushions that you sit on,are they stuffed with feathers?
if so,(and i've tried this with pillows) machine wash at 40deg. then tumbledry with 5 or 6 tennis balls in the drum to help "loft" them up again.I suspect,however, that they are of the foam sponge variety,which can start to degrade,giving rise to unpleasant odours.you should be able to buy this locally in various thicknesses and densities, you just cut it to fit
