spider-web like formations on my lawn

I have just planted a lawn and was growing well. but I just noticed spider-web like formations on my lawn. they are white and spider-web like or cotton wool like. can't mow the lawn yet. what do I do?

It could be mushroom spores - you may well have a fairy ring in the morning - a ring of mushrooms.

As it's a new lawn you need to be careful how you treat it.

Wait a few days before doing anything.
Hi whitestoned, By your description it sounds as if it could be a fungus called Dollar Spot. Type Dollar Spot into google and see what you think. Your garden centre will be able to advise re remedy. cheers skylight
I was just about to suggest it may be dollar spot also.
'Mildothane turf liquid' is a good all round fungiside you might want to check-out Good Luck Tbird+
