On a wooden floor, just put some folded dusters under the legs or corners of whatever you're moving.

For moving furniture on a carpet, you can get little rubber discs to slide the furniture on to prevent snagging the carpet. Next time you get a Betterware/Kleeneze/Lakeland catalogue through the door, look out for them.
