Timer on boiler for hotwater and central heating - advice please.
3 Answers
I have a timer on my boiler to control when the central heating and hot water comes on. There are options of Once, Twice, Off & Continuous. Our heating is on twice, coming on about an hour before we wake up and going off after we go to work, school etc. And the same later when kids home from school until evening. With regards to the hot water, I was advised to leave this on continuous. This is so there is always hot water. And it works out cheaper as the boiler would use more energy to heat the water if it were on twice. Although the hot water is used for washing, dishwasher, baths and showers at any time of day would it make sense to put this on once, say coming on before we get up and going off after we have had the last bath? Thanks

We do not have the water heating on continuous and on the occasions when we have needed hot water when the system is off the water from the hot water tank is still chuffing hot!! Just a thought.....make sure the lagging on your tank is as good and thick as it can be. I also put my towels and spare bedding on top of it and I am sure that helps.......and I hope this answer helps!
