A bathroom smell - in the kitchen

We have built an ensuite bathroom in our bedroom. it was built by dividing the old bathroom with a studded wall and knocking through from our bedroom.
The ensuite has a shower which drains to the same side of the house as the old bathroom.
The strange thing is that in the kitchen, which is immediately below the bathroom and ensuite, when the ensuite shower is running we get a strong unpleasant smell which stops as soon as the shower stops.
The drain hole in the shower is regulalry cleaned and we put drain cleaner in every week which does help.
There's no similar smell either from, or in, the main bathroom.
The shower is an electric model fed by cables dropped down from the roof space. The smell doesn't reach any other room in the house - it just seems to be associated with running the shower and it draining. Any ideas what it could be please?

Hi Ray,

More like bad eggs.

Incidentally, some days it doesn't appear at all!! But when it does it's not nice.
Hi doolin,
I really can't think what this could be,if it had been a fish smell it would have been an electrical problem, post the question again and with a bit of luck, buildersmate will see it,he may have a solution, sorry I can't help you, Ray
it sounds like you dont have a (u) bend under your shower tray,if you have a strait down pipe the smell will come from under, its worth having a look,sammy111
