marker pen? on new sofa

a friend has noticed a mark on her new cream sofa, not sure what it is but it looks like marker pen, she has tried bicarbonate of soda and babywipes etc. but nothing seems to be working, The sofa is a cotton tweedy material which has been scotchguarded.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Normally, any type of alcohol based hairspray removes all types of ink marks. spray on, leave for five minutes then sponge lightly. the ink should disappear.
