I have recently installed a new gainsborough 9.5 w electric shower, but am not getting any hot water. There seems to be good voltage from the main fuse 204 and the same for upstairs switch!. So what can be wrong Any ideas!!!

Hi star, Is the mains indicator light coming on,the little one on the shower ?
These things can only be installed by an electrician self-certified for Part P Building Control. Or one makes a Building Control application to have them checked by BC afterwards.

Hi raysparx1, the mains light is coming on, but if you switch the mains off should the shower still be working? as mine does.

Hi buildersmate, the shower was installed by an electrician, but as I said it was working when he left.
Hi star, some showers will work with the mains power turned off,but obviously the water will not heat up, if the mains light is on and the water is flowing without heating up there is a problem on the shower, so you would have to call the electrician back,to check it out, Ray
I had a gainsborough shower in my last house. Within weeks of having it installed the heating element went!! Luckily i had a 12 mth guarantee and they soon came out and swapped it.

As for working when the power is off, mine did but the water was freezing!!

I have noticed something about the shower. Every time the shower head is not attached to the rail i.e I'm holding it, the water will heat up . If I have the Shower head attached to the rail high up and then put the shower one the water will not heat up?!?!
