Problem with oil boiler
2 Answers
We can smell fumes from our oil boiler. This started after the severe winds a few days ago. It was really bad on Saturday, so we switched it off. We tried it again last night, as it was so cold and the smell was much less, but there is still a faint smell when it's running.
I have checked the flue and apart from a tiny pile of soot, it appears clear. Any ideas on what could be causing the smell and is it dangerous?

Always a good idea to call an expert if you smell anything funny with your appliances, it could be posionous fumes !!!
But then again it could just be the soot has blown onto the burner and it is burning off hence the smell. If there is soot in the flue it needs a service and it should have a service every 12 months.
