I would like to turn the heating off during the day while we are both at work, but my boyfriend thinks it won't save any more money than keeping it on constantly but just turning it down a bit - who is correct?

I think it depends on what kind of boiler you have. if you have a combi boiler then it would be cheaper to have it off.
Have the boiler turned off that is!!!

well, it will certainly keep us warm if we 'have it off'! hehe! ;-)

Just have it come on 1/2 hr before you get in.
I thought it was better to keep the room at a stable temp that way the building materials in the room i.e. plasterboard etc retain the temp better? I also thought it was cheaper to maintain a constant min temp rather than let the boiler heat up the room from cold?

Anyone clarify or put me right?

Simon.
No brainer !!!
I also thought what Simon D said was correct - is that not the case then?
