We are considering having an ensuite fitted into our bedroom. It would consist of a electric shower, toilet and basin. My husband is not a DIY person and neither am I so we would need to pay plumbers, electricians etc. Has anyone else done this and what would be the approximate cost?

Very difficult to estimate since every job is different (complexity) and there is a huge range of bathroom sanitaryware prices. Be aware that the most labour-intensive part of the job is working out where to route the soil pipe outlets from the new loo to flow into your existing system. Assuming you have a budget of 3k-5k to spend, ask a couple of bathrrom fitting organisations around to discuss ideas. Get three (at least) ideally so you can compare their ideas and prices.
Also not that you will also need BRA so the council will have to be informed and paid for the Building Regulations Approval and inspections. But if using the suitably qualifed tradesmen who are registered to self certify then this will save you the added expense.
