decking

im thinking of putting decking in my garden is it hard to install and is it worth the hassle?lol thanks in anticipation.

I did 4 x 3 materes of decking in my garden last summer. It took me a week but it is well worth it. Basically all u need to worry about is the frame.

I want to deck the raised part of my garden in the summer as well - its about the same size - 4 x 3. Any rough ideas as to how much it cost??

but don't forget that mice and rats like to live under it and eat the food you drop if you eat out there and as rubbish/leaves collect under it it becomes a serious fire risk, especially if anyone smokes out there

Cost depends on. If your timber is already treated. What tools you already own. Lay that big blue plastic sheet stuff underneith to stop weeds coming up through.

i sell decking and at �5.98 for 3.6m lengths i think you could work your prices from there?

as your not going to be any of my customers, if you are pl;ease ignore me, but decking is very VERY slippy and very dangerouse in the winter months!

We are getting decking too but I have been warned again and again about rats so the solution is to place a metal mesh about the edges to enclose it and that way nothing can get under it.

Also a good thing to stop weeds is to place a layer of black plastic or something like that (anything that will block any light) on the ground underneath and let it overlap that way no weeds will be able to grow under it.

I agree with rugeleyboy, decking is great in dry weather, but when it's wet it's lethal, do be careful, it really ,really hurts when you slip and fall on it!!

Rats and Mice love it. I warned my neighbours before they installed it. and I was proved right.
