but don't forget that mice and rats like to live under it and eat the food you drop if you eat out there and as rubbish/leaves collect under it it becomes a serious fire risk, especially if anyone smokes out there
Cost depends on. If your timber is already treated. What tools you already own. Lay that big blue plastic sheet stuff underneith to stop weeds coming up through.
We are getting decking too but I have been warned again and again about rats so the solution is to place a metal mesh about the edges to enclose it and that way nothing can get under it.
Also a good thing to stop weeds is to place a layer of black plastic or something like that (anything that will block any light) on the ground underneath and let it overlap that way no weeds will be able to grow under it.

I agree with rugeleyboy, decking is great in dry weather, but when it's wet it's lethal, do be careful, it really ,really hurts when you slip and fall on it!!
