Spider Plants are really hardy and very easy to look after. I've had the same Peace Lily in my bathroom for about 10 years - it seems to like it there. I feed my houseplants once a week (just a few drops of Baby Bio in their water) in the growing season and water regularly all year round as required. The Peace Lily gets an extra treat every couple of months or so - it has a warm shower, so it's ideally placed ! Another easy to look after plant is the Easter or Christmas cactus, plus you get the benefit of beautiful flowers at either Easter or Christmas !
I've got an Aloe Vera in mine, it is spiky, modern looking and is useful if I burn myself whilst cooking or ironing (not in the bathroom I should add). I water it when I remember (it is a desert plant so not too fussy) and I give it a wipe down when it looks dusty and that's it.
Any of the succulents such as the money or jade plant (crassula sp). They need very little maintenance....a little bit of light and watering when you remember. Easy to root from cuttings too and most garden centres stock them.
