I know this is probably a simple question to a lot of you but I need some DIY advise as I am a complete novice. I've moved into my new house and am wanting to put up some cupboards, towel rails etc and some fittings (ie the hook that I wind the string from the roman blind round) is loose and just pulls out of the wall. I don't even own a drill yet but am determined to learn and get these things done. Can you help me with what sort of drill should I buy? How do I know what the wall is made of? Is plasterboard the same as dry lining? What sort of screws and raw plugs do I need for the different types of wall? Any other tips and advise on this sort of thing would be greatly appreciated.
Also pink, make sure you do not put pictures etc directly above switches and sockets, all wires should run horizontally or vertically so just be aware, might be worth investing in a cable/pipe detector, go for it,hope you enjoy doing it, just don't give up.
