I have 3 showers in the house, supplied by a hot water tank. One of the showers has ceased to work...when switched on it will pump water for about 30 seconds and it then dries up. The other 2 showers are working perfectly.

undo, slightly, both feed pipes to the unit. if these have plenty of water flowing through them at sufficient pressure. then the problem will be after that point. possibly limescale or thermostatic mixer failure.
