A loss adjuster evaluates the damage caused to property by the flood.

They will probably come out, assess the damage, make sure you are covered by your policy etc.

They are not just going to believe you when you say you have had a flood, they get so many bogus claims that they do come out and see the damage for themselves.

See here:

he or she is sent by your insurance company,to see if it really was a flood, what is damaged, what needs to be done to put it back to what is was before.etc.
You will probably be made an offer based on the loss adjustor's findings. You do not have to accept this offer.Hold out for a better deal.If you think the offer is derisory, employ a loss assessor. They are on your side and tend to 'concentrate the mind' of the insurance company.Good look.
