We have used a SEBO upright vacuum cleaner for some time now. It is proving to be superior in every way to anything we've used before (Dyson, Hoover, Philips). Bags and filters are slightly pricy but tolerable. Local shop owner indicated he had not had one back for repair since he started stocking them over three years ago. Andy
henrys by numatic. The ones with the face on - there's a whole range. We got a George which does carpet cleaning too. It's amazing - sucks up everything! Even builders' debris.
I have a powerful Miele, it's good but it's noisy like you wouldn't believe. I actually wear these while cleaning. Must look very funny. I keep thinking that one of these days I'll see myself cleaning on YouTube, filmed from across the street...
I honestly couldn't bear to use it without the Peltors.
Another vote for the SEBO. We got an X4extra after recommendations on here last year. It is available at John Lewis for about 250, but if you 'google' you will get it delivered for about 200 (same for the bags etc). My favourite thing about it is that it has a longer handle than most uprights, so I don't get backache when using it (and I'm 6' 3").
well i like my dyson and wouldnt change it, also have a dyson washing machine and they are brilliant had it since they first come out and the aftercare service is very good
