do you get male and female bay trees? my mum and my granddad were arduing about it.

Yes you do. The bay tree ,Laurus nobilis has individual flowers both male or female, but only one sex is to be found on any one plant so you need both a male and female if you want to get seed. It's not self fertile they are pollinated by bees. .
also you can get 'gay bay' trees !! they don't know what they are, can't make their minds up!
