hi, I am putting up some fence panels, 6ft x 6ft and need to know what size posts to use i.e: 3x3 or 4x4 or concrete, bearing in mind the east coast quite windy and cost is also a consideration. will I get away with 3x3?
thanks, alf.

I would use 4" - not much price difference.
If the posts are going in the ground 4x4 by 8ft 2ft in the ground . if useing post stakes you could use 3x3. But if it gets realy windy its always better to concrete the posts in. John.
On a windy site like yours, I'd say "hang the expence" and go for concrete posts. Bearing in mind that future repair bills may work out far more than the initial out-lay for the more robust posts, but there again I'm good at spending other peoples money!
