What is the sticky residue that falls from Scyamore trees. The house at the bottom of my garden has a sycamore and my patio is covered with this sticky substance. What can I do about it?

It's probably honeydew caused by aphids which secrete this sticky substance .They feed on the sap especially of sycamores. It will then stick to whatever it falls on ...you can get rid of it easily by just washing it away with a hose and a stiff yard broom ..
Sycamore leaves exude sap all by themselves. A nuisance if you've just polished your car, too. Since it's sugary, plain water and a rub should remove it.
