Smelly House

I moved into rented accomodation 3 months ago. For the past few weeks ive had this dreadful smell all around my kitchen. Then last week my toilet blocked up.The Landlord came down last week and tried to free the shore with these long canes but it didnt work. Then he used acid stuff, that didnt work. Yesterday my neighbour came in and said her toilet was blocked and that she got an awful smell, she had a brother in the water council so they came down. They opened up a manhole in my kitchen and it was almost full to the top with poop and other stuff!

Well after hours of trouble and blasting pipes sucking out poop with machines, they cleared the blockage and all was fine. So i decided to clean out my drains to get rid of the smell for good. But last night when i closed all the windows the smell came back- worse than ever! We opened up the manhole again to see and all was ok. But the smell was horrible. When i opened the window it went but the minute i closed it the smell just shoots back at you as if its airlocked!

Its so annoying i have a little girl here and if my family werent living so near i dont know what id do, we had to stay with them last night the smell was so bad.

I was told its just taking a while for the smell to completely go but how long will it take?

Has any one had any experiences with this sort of thing or any suggstions how to get rid of the smell?

Get on to the Health Dept. at your local council , and they will send someone round to check it out .

I'm taking your advice and ringing the Health Dept. I've just went back to the house and its still just as bad. Im not putting our health at risk.
