I may be taking the question too seriously, but a Dutch oven is, I think, a clay dish with a lid - a bit like a casserole dish and therefore a cooking vessel rather than an oven (i.e. heated chamber) as we might think it to be. A Dutch oven therefore needs to be put into a conventional oven in order for the contents to cook.
