our house is the end off a set of 4 terist houses, at the side of our house is an ally way, (cobbeled unoccupied road). on the house deeds to our house it is shown that one of the previouse owners bought half the ally way streching the lenght of our house. There was once a building on part of it what I would like to know is: Can we extend a wall around this area without a problem from the local authorities or do we need to consult with a solicitor? And how high can a brick wall be before planing permision is needed?

(2) A wall not exceeding 2 metres high can generally be constructed. However, if your Planning Department regard it as a front wall they may have a rule restricting it tio 1 metre, or none at all. So, if the Highways Department do not object, then speak to the Planners.
