I have a problem with my kitchen sink. For some reason during the summer it stinks. Its a smell I can't really describe. Sometimes my plates and cutlery smell of it after I wash them even with lots of Fairy liquid. I've tried cleaning it with bleach, Cif, Zoflora, Soda Crystals etc. Not all at the same time though.

What else can I do? Please help, it's driving me mad.

If it makes your washing up smell it's not the drain, which was my first thought.

Do you dry your washing up straight away or leave it to drain?

Most of the time I leave it to dry but recently I've been washing them twice and drying them.

It is definitely not a drain smell. Bleach usually gets rid of drain smells so I can deal with that. This is smell that you can sometimes get when you're near a fishing harbour. I know it sounds crazy but that's what its like. I've tried using vinegar but that doesn't work as the smell is very strong.
It's not chlorine is it. I know our local water authority flush the pipes late in the evening and seem to inject shedloads of chlorine into the water supply. If you fill a glass with water just before you go to bed at night around here, the smell of chlorine is v strong.

It's definitely not chlorine. I know that smell well and I can only drink bottled water because of it. I have to admit I have got a strong sense of smell. In fact I probably have OCD when it comes to smells. I can smell bleach/chlorine a mile off.

The only other time I can smell this smell is on cutlery and plates that have had egg on them and they haven't been washed properly afterwards if that makes sense!

Thank you all.

Check under and behind you sink, washing machine etc for leaks.
Another thing!! You do have a waste trap under your sink don't you? if that has been dispensed with during some sort of bodged DIY project that will cause your sink to stink!!!!!!!
