Mosquito murder

Living by a stagnant canal, (Camden) my life has become plagued with mosquitos and other biting things. Some are mosquitos, some are more like midges, small and fluttery. Despite spending an hour with my slipper on a killing spree before bed, sleeping with the window shut fully clothed (pyjama bottoms tucked into socks) and drenching myself and room with repellent, lighting incense sticks to fill the room with smoke WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?

I'm told tea tree oil is good. I've a mate who swears by it when she goes away. She uses it as a shower gel/cleanser blah blah blah.

Also marmite is supposed to be good too.

Failing that... A big spider!

Scottish ghillies and gamekeepers swear by Avon's Skin so Soft range - it's a proper body care range of products, but whatever is in it apparantly repels midgies, mozzies and the like, but doesn't leave you smelling horrible and isn't bad for your skin. As for using a slipper - Mr A guffaws at this method of slaughter, and urges you to find your twangiest pair of pants, which you use like a catapult. He never misses with this method, and we have a house in Bruges, on a canal, so we feel your pain...........................

Yes, I use the Avon skin so soft (soft and fresh fragrance). I use the shower gel and the body lotion (every morning and every night). Three years ago I stopped counting all my mozzie bites when I got to 35. Then I discovered the Avon stuff. Since then I do get the odd bite or two, but nothing like I used to get.

the avon dry oil spray, skin so soft range, the fresh variety is the best.
I'm hugely allergic to bites and this really helps.
Citronella oil in an oil burner helps too, as does eucalyptus
