The spark ignition on my gas hob clicks all the time so I have to turn the power off to stop it driving me mad but then it's a pain to have to turn it back on each time I want to light a gas ring. What is making it do this and can it be fixed?

usually grease build up behind the sparking button so that when you press it the contact closes the circuit and stays closed. Or a broken spring. Either way 'should' be easy to clean and get working. But either way, take care when playing with gas and electricity!

Thanks - I'll turn off the power and get scrubbing!
Is it a Stoves hob by any chance?

No idea what make it is - it's just a 5 ring hob, set over a couple of cupboards, with a built in oven on another wall.
