I wonder if anyone can remind me what sort of potatoes I planted in my pots this year? I harvested them last night, and they are oval, pale-skinned with pink spots round the eyes.... They sound quite funky now I've typed that! Anyhoo, I can't remember which type they are - can anyone help please?

Thanks Diane, I googled a cara and that's what they look like - you're a star!
I thought King Edwards.
Same here Ethel. I wonder if they were seed potatoes or shop-bought potatoes. If shop-bought, I would have thought they were more likely to be King Eddie's
i would go for King Edwards.

The difference is Boiled King Edwards will break up and be floury,

Cara will hold together

Sorry, had to go and leave my own question!! They were bought as seed potatoes in a garden centre, and I do remember they weren't King Edwards. I'll be boiling some for tea tonight so fingers crossed they don't fall apart.....
depends where you live King Edwards aren't grown much in North Yorkshire. I stick by Cara
have you tried your potatoes
Question Author
Yes, I have and they were delicious! They did boil and were so tasty - so Cara wins by a mile. Time to plant the next crop, and this time I'll swot up beforehand, and keep a note of what I planted. Last year's boiled too, but they didn't have the pink spots on - that was what threw me. Thanks very much for your help.
