My smoke alarms are fitted to the mains, last week one seemed to go wrong and had a strange smell coming from it. Have now fitted a new one (12-14 hours ago) and it hasn't stopped beeping. Can anyone help please, before I tear it out!!

Hi wired, could be a couple of things, is it battery back up or lithium cells ? if battery the battery could be running down, even if it is a new one, if lithium it should stop after it has fully charged, what you could try is to push the test button hold it in for 10 seconds then let go, this would reset it, good luck, Ray

Thanks Ray, have just got in.Have a message on phone saying that I need a new battery back up connector, the original one is 10 years old & even though the detector is from the same firm and looks like the same model the battery connector is the only thing to change. Thanks for your time, wired.
