dirty conservatory roof

I have just moved into a house with a UPVC conservatory. The roof is plastic and is green with moss or mould or something - how can I best clean it off? It seems fairly resistant to scrubbing with a brillo and soapy water and seems welded on. I don't have a pressure washer, and the neighbours probably wouldn't thank me for blasting green stuff all over their garden anyway. Any advice?

a jet washer removes the green stuff off ours
sorry, just noticed you said you dont have a jet washer, but you could hire one - tell your neighbour what you are doing and that you will clean up any rubbish over her side, I am afraid that is the only way you will remove it.
Don't recommend Brillo or anything else abrasive on a plastic roof - it will end up scratched. Must be a few years' worth - this stuff normally comes off with water and a squeegy on a pole.
have to agree with jules about pressure washing. it doesn't actually make too much mess for a neighbour, it's mainly water spray rather than the green stuff.
My new secret cleaning weapon is dishwater tablets dissolved in hot water - worth a try!
I agree with Annie, I have used dishwasher power in fairly hot water to clean my polycarbonate conservatory roof. If you are really brave and very careful you could try some diluted (20%) bleach. But do take care to protect eyes, skin and clothes.
The bleach will kill off the spores that cause the green slime which is often a problem in areas that do not get a lot of sun.

Bleach solution working like a char, thank you.

Like a charm. If I had a char would all be a lot less hassle!
Katy, glad to be of help. Its also works great on patios, tiles, outdoor plastic furniture and shower trays etc. I'm convinced most of the expensive cleaners are basically just tarted up bleach in fancy containers! Sometimes you may need a concentration greater than 20% (be careful though)
PS. Hope the Char's hands are ok ;)
