Cast iron fireplace restoration.
3 Answers
I have uncovered an old Edwardian cast iron fireplace that was hidden behind cladding in a bedroom.
Having painstakingly got rid of all layers of old paint and de-rusted it thoroughly I'm now back to bare metal.
It is however, looking a bit dull. I definitely don't want to paint it again. Is there a 'blacking' product that I can buy (and where from?) that I can use to put on, polish and give it a nice 'burnished' look? The restored fireplace will not be used for any fires.
Many thanks.

Hi
Zebrite had to much lead content for nowadays, so they change the ingredients, and reluanched as Zebo, and I think you can still buy it.
In the trade Libron iron paste is the best but it's expensive, but Hotspot Black Grate polish is also very good. If you can't get it locally, you can contact me for any fireplace restoration products or spares mailorder.
