Don't know about your history, but you could try Help the aged (sorry it's a terrible name) they might be able to point you in the direction of some cash.

Also if you were ever exservices or merchant navy, there maybe money through the lifes of SSAFA or other charitable sources.
If you are in receipt of benefit, you maybe eligible for a loan through the department of work and pensions.
