Oh, my gosh!
Are you insured? It's sometimes better to let a professional do that...
Mind you, when I dropped a match on our new carpet I got the worst off with a wet baby-wipe, and trimmed the melted bit very lightly with good nail scissors.
No-one can tell.
Um - don't try this at home - I don't want anyone suing me!!!
Because it's wax it SHOULD lift if you cover with brown paper and iron over it. I dropped a candle on my carpet a few years ago and I lifted the wax that way no problem, however, it wasn't coloured so I'm not sure if it would leave any kind of colour. You're maybe best going through your insurance as Astrojill suggests, the chances are they won't replace the carpet but use someone professional to lift it off :0)
