Oil central heating

I live in rented accomodation and have oil central heating, Its been making funny noises lately and the level of oil seems to be going down a bit too quick.. I know it is down to the landlord to get it checked out but how often is it by law this needs to be done.. ?? I dont wanna be fobbed off saying a check isn't due as i have lived here for just over a year now..
Would be grateful for anyones knowledge on this

We live in a rented council house & also have oil central heating. Our system gets checked once a year.
