I am trying to save my mother-in-law from spending a fortune on a 54cm cooker for her kitchen. She has been quoted 550 pound for a cooker because it is not a standard size. Does anyone know of any sites that may offer this size at a more reasonable price?Otherwise, I have suggested that she has a joiner or kitchen expert look at somehow filling in the gap... any suggestions would be most welcome.. Thanks

If you had the worktop fitted across to the cooker each side, would the side with the gap accommodate a telescopic towel rail and be suitable to put trays or chopping boards or something in?
anything non standard costs more than usual without considering brand names and the price range
also whether its gas or electric there should be a gap each side (20 mm i think for gas) from combustible materials to comply with regs, would it not be easier to change one or both cupboards. it would open up the range available to you at a cheaper cost for the appliance
Gas or electric?
Try Argos
May I presume that you require a 54cm slot-in/free-standing cooker.

Try www.comet.co.uk. Use their advanced search to access the 45-55cm width criteria. Bingo!

Try www.currys.co.uk. Drill down Household appliances then Cookers and refine your search from there. Eureka!

Also do a general web search using "55 width cooker" - you'll get plenty of hits.
