Mini coolers/fridges
5 Answers
Are the little mini coolers/fridges which you can buy in hardware shops (which just take a couple of cans of beer) supposed to run silently.? A friend has just acquired one and it's so noisy that you can barely hear the TV over the top of it. Could it be faulty, or are they always this noisy?

Like a lot of domestic electrical goods, you get what you pay for. Many of those mini fridges are really cheaply produced in China and leave a lot to be desired in terms of efficiency. Even quite expensive ones can be a waste of money, best to check reviews and see what others think before buyung one.
An example here, 124 but doesn't chill sufficiently according to the personal reviews at the bottom of the page.

Thanks Pug. The type of mini cooler I was enquiring about was like the one solarjunkie investigated - this too has been bought for somebody in a care home to keep yoghurt and other little perishable snacks in - very small capacity indeed, only standing about 18 inches high and less than 12 inches wide.
